"I primarily use Vizucate within the Further Education and Training (FET) Sector where there is a large gap between the text book content and the FET students expectation with regard to content delivery. “I find the Vizucate characters ‘student friendly’. It is a novel way in which to transfer content and bring in new dimensions, e.g. different backgrounds, specific content related items/scenarios, different characters talking to each other thus interacting with content which would have been conveyed very boringly by the lecturer. The students find it interesting and often remark that they remember the content better than when it is just a normal chalk and talk class. The students like to read comic strips (we actually house this in our Open Learning Centres) and the content is therefore presented in a comic strip way. The lecturers are very fond of these characters and see it as a way to teach through a ‘3rd’ person. They often remark that the students are more engaged, focused and quiet during the online lesson than during a normal lecture.”
